European guidelines for protected areas which host rare bird species, remain theoretical in some cases, BirdLife Cyprus’ director Martin Helicar says.

In an interview in ACTIVE radio, Helicar says that concerts and other events on beaches in EU-protected zones can relocate. However, nests and eggs cannot and many times humans destroy them, often without their knowledge.

Why is the Kentish plover in danger and why environmental permits must be issued before organising concerts in protected areas?
