Trained dogs will arrive to Cyprus from abroad as part of the EU-funded LIFE programme, in order to identify poisoned baits which offenders place in order to kill pets, hunting dogs and endangered birds.

The dogs will stay in Cyprus, Game Service representative Petros Anayiotos tells philenews, while noting that the programme will last for three years.

Game service staff will receive training on how to handle the dogs, he explained.

“Through these programmes, we receive training, develop ourselves, learn and acquire experiences which will be useful for the future.”

Building Cohesion is funded by the EU Parliament.
