The Eurochambres, which represents 20 million businesses in Europe through 46 member-associations is adding its weight to efforts to encourage EU citizens to participate in the European elections this May.
On Wednesday, European Parliament president Antonio Tabani and Eurochambres president Christoph Leitl signed an agreement to work closer together for the European Parliament elections on May 23-26.
“We need strong engagement from European citizens in the next months to work together for a better European Union. I am therefore very thankful for the commitment from Eurochambres and the many businesses it represents in both informing and encouraging its members to get involved in the European elections.” Tajani said after the signature.
With the partnership, the two bodies will work together to highlight the importance and relevance of the European Elections 2019 and accordingly to mobilise citizens to vote in May on an informed basis.
Added Leitl: “The next five years will be decisive for the citizens of Europe. We have to give the young people life perspectives to fulfill their wishes and hopes. The 20 million companies we are representing as Eurochambres, are in charge of the future for many of these people. Therefore we will contribute and do what we have to do for a better Europe, for a future oriented Europe, for a chance for young people in Europe.”
