The European Parliament elections will be held in late May with some countries voting on May 23, others on May 24, May 25 or May 26. The minimum age of candidates differs from country to country and so do thresholds.
The Netherlands will kick off voting on May 23, followed by Ireland on May 24 and Latvia, Malta and Slovakia on May 25.

They will vote for 705 MEPs, down from the current 751 following the departure of the United Kingdom from the Union.

Cyprus will retain its six seats in the European Parliament.
The threshold in Cyprus 1.8% and the candidates must be at least 21 years of age. The age to be eligible to vote is 18 years in all Member States, except Austria and Malta where the voting age is 16, the minimum age necessary to stand as a candidate in the European elections varies considerably, ranging from 18 to 25 years old.
